  • Aloe vera creams are questioned as a potential option, with mixed opinions on their effectiveness for acne treatment.
  • One participant mentions applying toothpaste to pimples as a drying method, while others share their experiences with various products.
  • Concerns are raised about the safety of TCP due to its phenol content, leading to a discussion about the risks of using such products on the skin.
  • There is uncertainty regarding the scientific basis for advice against popping pimples, with some participants questioning whether it prevents scarring or spreading bacteria.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express a range of opinions on the effectiveness of various remedies and the implications of different skin care practices. There is no clear consensus on the best approach to treating pimples and preventing dark spots, with multiple competing views remaining throughout the discussion.

Contextual Notes

Yes, but they're more annoying than the throatache and stuffed nose.

If I had to choose over having pimples for 3 years again or having a throatache and stuffed nose for 3 years, bring on the ugly!

It's all a matter of degrees, isn't it? I'd certainly have a concrete-stuffed nose and a razor in my throat over having my back all covered in cystic acne.

Whatever makes you sleep comfortably at night :-p Personally, I'd only ever take the cold over the acne if I knew I couldn't fake a sickie that day.

Sit in the sun to dry the oil on your face.

Bad advice.

Scar tissue darkens much more than regular epithelial tissue when exposed to sunlight.

Actually the advice isn't so bad... it's just giving the wrong reason why it would work :-p. Sitting out in the sun and getting a mild sunburn will actually help with your pimple problem, no word of a lie.
