The discussion centers around the emergence of dark spots following pimples, particularly in a 20-year-old who has not previously experienced acne issues. This condition is identified as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which can take up to six months to heal and is not permanent scarring. Recommendations for treatment include avoiding picking at pimples, using over-the-counter products to reduce redness, and considering prescription options like Retin-A. Participants also debate the merits of popping pimples, with some suggesting it can lead to further infection while others question the validity of this advice. Overall, maintaining a gentle skincare routine and consulting a dermatologist for persistent issues is advised.

Yes, but they're more annoying than the throatache and stuffed nose.

If I had to choose over having pimples for 3 years again or having a throatache and stuffed nose for 3 years, bring on the ugly!

It's all a matter of degrees, isn't it? I'd certainly have a concrete-stuffed nose and a razor in my throat over having my back all covered in cystic acne.

Whatever makes you sleep comfortably at night :-p Personally, I'd only ever take the cold over the acne if I knew I couldn't fake a sickie that day.

Sit in the sun to dry the oil on your face.

Bad advice.

Scar tissue darkens much more than regular epithelial tissue when exposed to sunlight.

He was being sarcastic.

Back in the day, we used to be a little more free and playful with medical posts.

Good times. Good times...

Actually the advice isn't so bad... it's just giving the wrong reason why it would work :-p. Sitting out in the sun and getting a mild sunburn will actually help with your pimple problem, no word of a lie.
