The conference aims to present and discuss the initial science results from the Planck mission, specifically focusing on the mapping of anisotropies in the Cosmic Microwave Background. Participants are sharing information about the conference and its significance in the context of cosmological data release.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants note the announcement by ESA regarding the conference dates and express excitement about the upcoming cosmological data release from Planck.
  • There is a mention of the conference being the first scientific forum to address the initial results from the Planck mission.
  • One participant acknowledges the information and indicates they will follow up on the program once it is posted.
  • Another participant reiterates the scheduled release of the Planck cosmological data and the timing of the discussion of results.
  • A question is raised about the specific date of the conference, indicating a need for clarification.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the significance of the conference and the scheduled release of data; however, there is a minor point of uncertainty regarding the specific date of the conference.

Contextual Notes

Some participants express uncertainty about whether the announcement is new or old, indicating a potential lack of awareness of prior discussions or announcements related to the conference.

I just noticed this has been announced by ESA, maybe its old news, so apologies if it is; but it looks like we have a date for the first cosmological data release of PLanck

Thanks Phil! I made a note of it in the BtSM announcements thread I so won't forget to check their program out when it gets posted.

The Planck cosmological data is scheduled for release next month. Discussion of results is scheduled for april.
