AI Thread Summary
Chapter test questions from the David Cohen Precalculus With Unit Circle Trigonometry textbook can be shared in the forum for extra practice. Posts should ideally use LaTeX for better readability, although plain text is acceptable if users cannot access LaTeX. Tutorials and tools for generating LaTeX code are available on the site, and some users can post LaTeX from mobile devices. It is noted that not all questions necessitate LaTeX, particularly word problems. The discussion emphasizes the importance of making the content accessible and useful for all readers.

I would like to share chapter test questions from the David Cohen Precalculus With Unit Circle Trigonometry textbook (3rd Edition) as extra practice for anyone who may be interested. Where in this website can I post precalculus chapter test questions?

You can post them here in this forum. One thing though, if these posts are to be a valuable asset for other readers, they should be done using $\LaTeX$ for maximum readability. :D

I am not familiar with LaTex. I do not have a computer.

There are quite a few good tutorials online and here at MHB. We also have tools in place to help generate $\LaTeX$ code, and preview it live.

I don't think you have to have a laptop/PC to use $\LaTeX$. It likely depends on your mobile device, and I don't use those so I'm really not the one to be commenting on that...I just know others here use mobile devices and post $\LaTeX$.

If your device simply will not allow you to post $\LaTeX$, then as far as I'm concerned you can use plain text. I may, as I have time, edit your posts to use $\LaTeX$ (but I can't make any definite promises on that). :D

Not all questions require LaTex for easy reading. For example, most word problems need no LaTex.

Seemingly by some mathematical coincidence, a hexagon of sides 2,2,7,7, 11, and 11 can be inscribed in a circle of radius 7. The other day I saw a math problem on line, which they said came from a Polish Olympiad, where you compute the length x of the 3rd side which is the same as the radius, so that the sides of length 2,x, and 11 are inscribed on the arc of a semi-circle. The law of cosines applied twice gives the answer for x of exactly 7, but the arithmetic is so complex that the...
Is it possible to arrange six pencils such that each one touches the other five? If so, how? This is an adaption of a Martin Gardner puzzle only I changed it from cigarettes to pencils and left out the clues because PF folks don’t need clues. From the book “My Best Mathematical and Logic Puzzles”. Dover, 1994.
Thread 'Imaginary Pythagoras'
I posted this in the Lame Math thread, but it's got me thinking. Is there any validity to this? Or is it really just a mathematical trick? Naively, I see that i2 + plus 12 does equal zero2. But does this have a meaning? I know one can treat the imaginary number line as just another axis like the reals, but does that mean this does represent a triangle in the complex plane with a hypotenuse of length zero? Ibix offered a rendering of the diagram using what I assume is matrix* notation...
