Another question...
What does [un]prescaled trigger refer to? what is being scaled [and pre- to what]?

All trigger publications of all the experiments should describe that.

You can't take everything at the full rate, but you still want some samples for e. g. low-energetic events, so you evaluate some triggers only for 1 out of x events, reducing the trigger rate (the rate of events that get stored based on this trigger) to a reasonable rate.
