Hello! I am back again after a brief hiatus and a fight with depression. Hope everyone is doing well!
I am trying to create a setup of CCTV cameras that allow me to record off-site, i.e. optional/no local recording (on micro SD card), no NVR on LAN, but record to an NVR/system that is completely off-site. I have some familiarity with Tapo cameras (like C210), but I have set them up for local recording only. Not even to an NVR, but to the local micro SD card on board the camera.
But now I need something different because I want the recordings to be safely stored even if the camera is destroyed/tampered with. A local NVR on LAN is not possible for that very reason.
I was planning something like this:
CCTV Camera → Raspberry Pi on LAN (via RTSP) → Tailscale tunnel → Off-site Pi → Store into HDD.
Is this a sane idea? This idea is costly to quite an extent, but I couldn't think of a better idea.
