Remote sensing careers primarily focus on the application of engineering principles, particularly in electrical engineering (EE), to gather and analyze data about the Earth's surface. There is a significant presence of job opportunities in the defense industry, highlighting the importance of technical skills in this field. While Earth Science plays a role, the integration of EE techniques is crucial for success in remote sensing. Securing a position in this field often relies on a combination of demonstrated skills, situational factors, and a degree of luck.

Anyways, does anyone here know about remote sensing careers, and what it takes to get into one?

It's heavily EE-oriented and there are a lot of jobs in the defense industry. As with any job, getting one is a combination of demonstrated ability, circumstance, and luck.

Ah, thanks for the reply! Interesting - I thought it was more Earth Science than EE. But yes, the EE techniques are going to be extremely helpful for this.
