Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around how to effectively phrase a coding experience related to molecular dynamics for a resume. Participants explore different wording options and their implications for job applications.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • One participant suggests "Code development of water transport through a carbon nanotube with the molecular dynamics method." as a potential phrasing.
  • Another participant proposes "Molecular dynamics simulation of water transport through a carbon nanotube." as a better option.
  • A different viewpoint indicates that while the second option sounds better, it may not effectively convey the required skills to the reader.
  • One participant offers an alternative phrasing: "Simulated water transport through a carbon nanotube using [Python] and the [simpy] package(s)," emphasizing the importance of including specific tools used.
  • Another participant notes that the best phrasing should depend on the job being applied for, suggesting that the focus should be on what is most relevant to the position.
  • There is a consideration that different phrasings may highlight different aspects of the experience, such as coding skills versus familiarity with molecular dynamics or specific programming tools.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree that the second phrasing sounds better, but there is disagreement on its effectiveness in conveying the necessary skills for a resume. Multiple competing views remain regarding the best approach to phrasing the experience.

Contextual Notes

Participants express uncertainty about the effectiveness of different phrasings based on the specific job context and the skills they wish to highlight.

Hi
I wrote a code in a specific topic, for example, Molecular dynamics

How can I state it in my resume?

"Code development of water transport through a carbon nanotube with the molecular dynamics method."
"Molecular dynamics simulation of water transport through a carbon nanotube."
OR?

If someone expert in English please guide me
Thanks

Not a native speaker, but the second sounds better I think.
The best phrasing depends on the job you apply to. Highlight what is the most interesting for the position you apply to.

I agree the second sounds better, but I'm not sure it's actually more effective on a resume, because the reader doesn't know anything about what was required to do it.

What about: "Simulated water transport through a carbon nanotube using [Python] and the [simpy] package(s)."

(fill in brackets/parenthesis as needed)

It should depend on what the Resume is for, i.e. if you want to show to show (i.e. think that the most important thing for whoever this is for) that you have experience in coding the first version sounds better, if you want to stress your experience with molecular dynamics the second one, if familiarity with python and simpy specifically is important something along the lines of the third version and so on...
