SUMMARY

A team of software developers utilized a predictive keyboard program to generate text based on the seven Harry Potter books. The output, while occasionally coherent, often results in absurd and humorous sentences, showcasing the program's capabilities and limitations. Notable quotes from the generated text include Ron throwing a wand at Voldemort and Harry tearing his eyes from his head. The program operates by creating a word list and generating statistics, producing a mix of readable yet nonsensical content.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of predictive text algorithms
  • Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) concepts
  • Knowledge of statistical text generation techniques
  • Basic programming skills for text manipulation
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore advanced natural language processing techniques using Python libraries like NLTK or SpaCy
  • Research statistical methods for text generation, focusing on Markov chains
  • Learn about machine learning models for text generation, such as GPT-3
  • Investigate user applications of predictive text technology in mobile devices
USEFUL FOR

A team of software developers fed the seven Harry Potter books into a "predictive keyboard" program - originally designed to help writing text, e.g. with mobile devices. And then they just let it write a few pages.

Here is the full text

Some sentences look realistic, while others are just absurd, and the whole thing is quite funny to read. Ron doesn't stay the only one eating Hermione's family. A few quotes:

Magic: it was something that Harry Potter thought was very good.

Ron threw a wand at Voldemort and everyone applauded. Ron smiled.

Harry could tell that Voldemort was standing right behind him. He felt a great overreaction. Harry tore his eyes from his head and threw them into the forest. Voldemort raised his eyebrows at Harry, who could not see anything at the moment.

Hillarious!

I need a hard copy of this!

Would pay top dollar for this book.

I think I once wrote something similar. What the program really does is creating a word list from the input and generate a set of statistics related to the words. The output is created through the use of random numbers and the word statistics. The output looks quite OK until you try to make sense out of it (because there is no sense at all).

Hilarious comedy! This is brilliant and stunning how decent it reads. Any indication they will continue with the story generation?
