SUMMARY

The forum discussion addresses a mathematical error in the equation x² + (3x - 100)² = 10000. The user, Tedjin, identifies the mistake in the expansion of the equation, leading to the incorrect quadratic form 10x² - 600x - 9900 = 0. The resolution emphasizes the importance of careful expansion in algebraic expressions.

You're mistake is in this part:

x2 + (3x-100)2 = 10000
10x2 - 600x - 9900 = 0

You haven't expanded correctly.

Quite the oversight.

Thanks, Tedjin. I shall aptly punish myself.
