SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on solving transformer per unit questions, specifically converting values into per unit and creating per phase equivalent circuits. Participants emphasize the importance of normalizing component values for per unit calculations and isolating one phase for per phase analysis. The conversation highlights the need for a solid understanding of equivalent circuit models, which are essential for tackling these types of problems effectively.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of transformer theory and operation
  • Familiarity with per unit system concepts
  • Knowledge of equivalent circuit models for electrical systems
  • Basic skills in circuit analysis
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the principles of the per unit system in electrical engineering
  • Learn how to derive per phase equivalent circuits for transformers
  • Explore normalization techniques for electrical component values
  • Review examples of transformer equivalent circuit models
USEFUL FOR

Electrical engineering students, educators, and professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of transformer calculations and equivalent circuit analysis.

1. attached is the question i am trying to solve.

I do not know how to do per unit questions.

2. Part a) of the question ask to convert into per unit and then per phase equivalent circuit. I do not understand how to do it. Please guide.

Also, how to calculate the bus1?

3. I cannot attempt because I do not know how to... what etc the first step etc

Hi Pingpong
does the book (or lecturer) provide you with an equivalent circuit model?

if i remember rightly, per unit means all the component values normalised, and per phase means only consider one phase of the power lines. its been a while since i studied that.
