Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around guidance for engineering students interested in starting with nanophysics, particularly focusing on foundational topics in physics and recommended literature in solid state physics and related fields.

Discussion Character

  • Homework-related, Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about which physics topics should be prioritized for someone with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering when starting in nanophysics.
  • Another participant suggests consulting the book "Quantum Transport: From Atom to Transistor" by S. Datta as a resource.
  • A request for additional book recommendations is made, emphasizing the need for specific titles to facilitate finding the right materials.
  • Further recommendations include "Quantum Transport: Atom to Transistor" and "Nano- And Microelectromechanical Systems" by Sergey Edward Lyshevski, with links provided for access.
  • Participants express gratitude for the recommendations shared.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

There is no explicit disagreement noted; however, the discussion primarily revolves around requests for resources rather than a consensus on specific topics or methodologies.

Contextual Notes

The discussion does not delve into the specific foundational topics in physics that should be prioritized, leaving this aspect unresolved.

What do one need to start with if he in engineering like mechnical or electrical in nanophysics I mean which topics of physics are to be taken first andf handled first and can anybody recommend some books or topics in solid state physics or any books or any guidance?

Physics news on Phys.org
maybe youcan consult S. Datta book
Quantum Transport from atom to transistor

thanks sir , may god bless you can u recommend some more books pls and pls mention the heading because it is difficult to fins the exact book Like Quantum Transport in that matter

great,thanks
