Testing Water for Magnesium w/ Titration Kit

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for a magnesium testing kit suitable for drilling water, specifically utilizing titration methods. Participants recommend an over-the-counter test kit from Drs. Foster and Smith, which is easy to use but lacks precision. For more accurate results, a magnesium-specific titration method outlined in a paper from the American Chemical Society is suggested, which addresses complicating factors in testing.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of titration techniques
  • Familiarity with magnesium concentration testing
  • Knowledge of water quality testing methods
  • Basic chemistry principles related to reaction accuracy
NEXT STEPS
  • Research magnesium titration methods in detail
  • Explore the American Chemical Society paper on magnesium testing
  • Investigate other water quality testing kits available
  • Learn about factors affecting titration accuracy
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for environmental scientists, water quality analysts, and drilling engineers who require accurate magnesium concentration testing methods for water used in drilling operations.

In my work we are suffering now from a problem of magnesium in water that we are using for drilling, we need test kit to test magnesium oncentration
we could not use photometric analysis or any other complicated device we need method of testing depend on titration reaction
could anyone help me
