Graduate Time Measurement in MT Traversable Wormholes - Help Needed

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the interpretation of Equations (38a) and (38b) from the paper "Time Measurement in MT Traversable Wormholes" by Thorne and Morris. Participants express confusion regarding the time measured by a traveler versus that measured by stationary observers, specifically questioning why the traveler's time does not align with their proper time as expected. The consensus indicates that further clarification on the derivation of Equation (38) is necessary to resolve these discrepancies.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of general relativity concepts
  • Familiarity with the terminology of proper time
  • Knowledge of traversable wormhole physics
  • Ability to interpret mathematical equations in physics papers
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the derivation of Equation (38) in the context of traversable wormholes
  • Study the concept of proper time in general relativity
  • Examine the implications of time dilation in relativistic travel
  • Explore additional resources on the mathematical framework of wormhole physics
USEFUL FOR

Students of theoretical physics, researchers in general relativity, and anyone interested in the mathematical foundations of time measurement in traversable wormholes.

I am reading this article now :http://www.cmp.caltech.edu/refael/league/thorne-morris.pdf. And i am a little bit confused about the Eq.(38a)and Eq.(38b), which means the time measured by traverller and people in the sataion, and I just think the time measured by traveller should be his proper time ,but Eq.(38) is not that. I wonder where is Eq(38) from. Could you help me ?
