Why feel pain in the ear when we entering a tunnel by car?
Why feel pain in the ear when we entering a tunnel by car?
The discussion centers on the phenomenon of ear pain experienced by individuals when entering car tunnels. Participants explore potential causes, including pressure differentials and sound echoes, while considering various contexts such as train travel and tunnel dimensions.
Participants do not reach a consensus on the causes of ear pain in tunnels, with multiple competing views and experiences presented. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the specific reasons for the phenomenon.
Participants highlight the dependence on tunnel size and the speed of travel, as well as individual sensitivity to pressure changes, which may affect the experience of ear pain.

Some people experience a bit upon driving up a high hill or going in an aeroplane, because of the pressure differential between the inside and outside of the head. That's why ears 'pop'. The pressure shouldn't change from ambient inside a tunnel.
