The discussion centers on the various branches of physics, specifically particle physics, nuclear physics, atomic physics, and quantum mechanics. Participants are encouraged to explore these fields, with a reference provided to the American Physical Society (APS) for detailed explanations of each unit and division. The APS link serves as a resource for understanding the different types of physics and their respective areas of study, highlighting the interconnectedness of these disciplines within the broader field of physics.

Hello, I've been wondering about the "branches" of physics. Can anyone please tell a bit about each of the following: particle physics, nuclear physics, atomic physics...etc And maybe a bit about quantum mechanics?

Thank you :)

The link below gives you the different Units and Divisions under the APS. Each corresponds to a roughly the same different "types" of fields in physics, and most links have a brief explanation of the field.
