What Are the Selection Rules for the Zeeman Effect?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The Zeeman effect is governed by four specific selection rules that must all be satisfied for a transition to be allowed. These rules dictate the conditions under which an electron can transition between energy levels in the presence of a magnetic field. The discussion clarifies that satisfying only one of the selection rules is insufficient; all four must be met for the transition to occur. This definitive requirement is crucial for understanding the behavior of atomic transitions in magnetic fields.

I am reading some online article on Zeeman effect
http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/spin/node10.html
In the article, the author mentions 4 selection rules, I wonder the corresponding transition is allowed by satisfying one of these selection rules or the corresponding line will be allowed only when all rules are satisfied?

Thanks.
