What does "expressed sequence tag clones" mean

and what does it mean with "sporadic"? For example when it says; "A few sporadic tumours".

A sporadic tumor is non-heretitary, meaning that the it is not familial.

An expressed sequence tags (ESTs) are derived from cDNA (which again comes from RNA expressed in the cell). In this case you isolate RNA from a tumor, synthesize cDNA from that and make an EST library. You can then compare the ESTs of different tumors.
 
Can you post some of the context of the statement about sporadic tumors? There is the non-hereditary context Monique mentioned, but it could also be used to indicate infrequent or appearing without any pattern.
