What forms can the behavior of time take?

I know the time is not a straight line, but what other sorts of behaviour can have? Sinus, Circle,arbitrary periodic non periodic forms, discrete forms? could you please tell me?

I think it's more basic than that. There's really nothing to tell that isn't already obvious.
