Which MATLAB book is best for beginner programmers?

Can anyone recommend a book to learn MATLAB for someone who is a complete beginner at matlab, but already knows a few programming languages?

The manual? Seriously, it's got lots of tutorials and most of the API and is actually really good in its own way.
