Why do "What's new" and "New posts" show different lists?

What's New mixes a short list of new posts with a short list of the latest Profile posts. New Posts gives a longer list of the latest posts, which is more useful for me.

Yes, I prefer the "New Posts" as well, but why there are posts on top of the "What's New" list which do not show on top of the "New Posts"?

New Posts is a subset of What's New.

What's New also includes Insights and Media and stuff that are not posts.

Uncheck "Show only: Unread" in the upper left, then you should see the same.

Thanks to all. I've figured the source of my issue. It is that the URL to the New Posts (with Show only: Unread switched off) is not permanent. For example, it is "https://www.physicsforums.com/whats-new/posts/2221471/" at one time and "https://www.physicsforums.com/whats-new/posts/2221475/" at another. If I reuse an older one, I get strange results.

Then, the question is, is it possible to get a permanent link that consistently opens the correct list of New Posts (with Show only: Unread switched off)?
