Why Does GEANT4 Calculate a Lower Ionization Cross-Section Than Expected?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers on the discrepancy in ionization cross-section calculations using GEANT4, specifically noting that the expected value is over 2 Mbarn while the user obtained a result around milibarn. The user seeks assistance in accurately calculating the ionization cross-section for an accelerator storage ring. This highlights potential issues with the application of GEANT4's formula for cross-section calculations in high-energy physics contexts.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of ionization cross-section concepts
  • Familiarity with GEANT4 simulation toolkit
  • Knowledge of accelerator physics and storage ring operations
  • Basic proficiency in high-energy particle interactions
NEXT STEPS
  • Review GEANT4 documentation on cross-section calculations
  • Study ionization cross-section measurement techniques
  • Explore accelerator physics principles related to ionization
  • Investigate common pitfalls in GEANT4 simulations

Hi. I need to calculate the ionization cross section in the accelerator storage ring. In all science works i read, that this parameter is over 2 Mbarn. I use the GEANT4's formula for cross section and got the cross section is ~milibarn. Please help me to calculate this cross-section. you can writh me on my ICQ# to ICQ# 311-844-289
