Why doesn't U.S participiate in PLANCKS contest

Countries currently participating, it seems like a great opportunity and I'm sure some top universities from the states could fund students to go.(who would love to go also)

They didn't participate last year either.

They got back to me really fast like within hours

"I think the reason why the U.S. is not (yet) participating in PLANCKS is because the competition is not well-known in the States. As PLANCKS 2015 is only the second edition of PLANCKS the promotion is still going on with the hope to reach all the physics students in the world. We did however get in contact with some U.S students and a team registered for PLANCKS 2015. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding they weren't able to participate.
I hope in the future U.S. teams get enough funding and will be able to participate and/or host PLANCKS.
