Why Should You Consider OpenVSP for Aircraft Modeling?

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around OpenVSP, a parametric aircraft geometry tool that allows users to create 3D models of aircraft based on engineering parameters. The conversation touches on the potential usefulness of OpenVSP for those interested in aircraft modeling and engineering analysis.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • OpenVSP is described as a tool that can create 3D models of aircraft using common engineering parameters, which can then be processed for engineering analysis.
  • One participant questions the intent behind sharing the link, seeking clarification on whether there was a specific question or purpose.
  • Another participant suggests that the original poster should provide more context about their experience with OpenVSP and its relevance to the community.
  • There is a mention of the importance of descriptive sharing to enhance visibility and usefulness of resources in forums.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the usefulness of the shared resource, as the discussion primarily focuses on the nature of the sharing rather than the tool itself.

Contextual Notes

The discussion lacks detailed personal experiences or technical evaluations of OpenVSP, which could provide more insight into its application and effectiveness.

I'm sorry, was there a question?

nope, just sharing resources for those that might find it useful

No worries - there is a fine line between sharing a great site and spam.
What would be cool is if you'd write something about what you are sharing -- tell us how you found it useful and why anyone should care.

Presumably you have some reason for thinking that some people reading PF in particular might find this particular program useful? You are too bashful - speak up :)

Remember: google et al indexes your posts by what you write in them - so when you write descriptively about what you share, people looking for a 3D modelling program who have similar needs that you do will find it. Free and Open Source software relies on this kind of WoM marketing so let's make it good.
