In a recent thread @bhobba suggested the book "Fields and their Quanta" with the hint "It's a bit pricey".
I was just wondering what he meant so I looked it up. When I saw the price I was impressed: 160,-€ for around 200 pages.
That got me thinking: Any idea what makes this particular book so expensive? Is it more pricey because so many are sold or because only few are sold.
I am happy about wild guesses as answers. However, I am rather looking for responses from members who have either read this particular book and have an opinion on its price or from members who have an insight in the industry and know how prices are made.
This question is not so much about whether I should buy/read the book. I am more interested in the way the market works and if authors have a word in how their books are priced and if authors are rather interested in high or low prices.
