1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

does ethanamide react with ethanol forming an ester?!

2. Relevant equations

CH3CONH2 + CH3CH2OH -------> CH3COOCH2CH3 + NH3

3. The attempt at a solution

Under acidic conditions, amides can be esterified in exactly the same manner as transesterification can occur. The product is an ammonium chloride so acid is not catalytic but must be present in larger than equimolar amounts.

awww.... i put only a few drops of concentrated H2SO4.....

but it's only 2 marks...nvm

we had to distinguish between an amide and a primary amine.
i had completely forgotten about the NaOH reaction which could have been used....

thnks
