Is fructose a less caloric sweetener than sucrose or dextrose?

Hello, I don't think so. It is likely that some synthetic ones like aspartame or saccharine have better properties in terms of less calory gain. All mono- or poly-saccharides undergo biological processes, giving energy as a result of P-O bond cleavages.

In the terms of natural sugars, fructose and lactose are more sweet than glucose but for calories I am not sure. I know than fructose is often used as a sweetner because the amount required is less than that of glucose. For example, for canadian, krispy kream donuts have fructose and tim hortons have glucose and that why krispy kream donuts taste sweeter than tim hortons donuts.
