Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around recommendations for books on quantum physics, with participants exploring both popular science and technical texts. The conversation includes suggestions for specific titles and inquiries about the desired complexity of the material.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • One participant asks for recommendations for a good book on quantum physics.
  • Another participant seeks clarification on whether the request is for popular science or technical literature.
  • A participant suggests that technical books are preferred.
  • One participant mentions studying J.J. Sakurai's "Modern Quantum Mechanics" as a recommendation.
  • Another participant agrees with the recommendation of Sakurai and adds "Messiah" and "Cohen-Tanoudji" as additional suggestions.
  • A participant expresses gratitude for the suggestions and asks for science books in simpler language.
  • Another participant responds that there are many options and inquires about the specific branch of science the requester is interested in.
  • The requester indicates a desire to read books specifically about atoms.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the value of technical books, but there is no consensus on which specific titles are the best or on the level of complexity desired by all participants.

Contextual Notes

The discussion does not resolve the question of which book is definitively the best, nor does it clarify the range of complexity in available literature on quantum physics.

Pop-sci or technical?

technical obviously!

I am currently studying J.J. Sakurai's "Modern Quantum Mechanics".

And that's the best in my opinion too. Followed by Messiah and Cohen-Tanoudji

thanks

i thank you for the sugestion. Is there any science book in simple language?

Tons. What branch of science do you want to study?
