Is Kinetic Energy Always Conserved in Collisions?
A perfectly elastic collision is defined as one in which there is no loss of kinetic energy in the collision. An inelastic collision is one in which part of the kinetic energy is changed to some other form of energy in the collision. Any macroscopic collision between objects will convert some of...- Abhinav R

Finding the surface area of a curved object using calculus
As for the curve y = x^{2} , it is an upward parabola with the centre on the origin and x-axis.So when rotated about the x-axis the solid should look something like the attachement image I did. Now you can integrate the figure using area under curves method.- Abhinav R

Calculating Velocity and Time for a Falling Coin
1) Yes the average velocity can be calculated by differentiating s(t) ∴ s(t^{'}) = -32t The average velocity turns out to be (-96 + 32)/2 = -32 2) The instantaneous velocity when t=3 s is given by Lim Δt→0 Δs/Δt = ds/dt So -32t = -32 × 3 = -96 3) s(t^{'}) = -32t...- Abhinav R

Projectile Motion (potential & kinetic energy)
a) Use the formula : h=(1/2)gt² h=1/2 \times 10\times(0.5)² Here I calculated t from the usual t = d\divspeed t=0.5 s Coming back to h,We get h as 1.25 m b) v_{x} = u = 40 m/s v_{y} =...- Abhinav R

Resistance Cube: Finding current through each resistor
The network is not reducible to a simple series and parallel combinations of resistors,There is,however a clear symmetry in the problem which we can exploit to obtain the equivalent resistance of the network. Now the job is to find the sides in which the current is the same, say I.Further,at the...- Abhinav R

Undergrad What is the nature of a uniform electric field?
An electric field that changes with time, such as due to the motion of charged particles in the field, influences the local magnetic field. That is, the electric and magnetic fields are not completely separate phenomena; what one observer perceives as an electric field, another observer in a...- Abhinav R

Solving Integral of x/(sin(x^2))^2: Tips and Tricks
∫x/sin(x²)² dx Put x²=t ∴ 2x dx=dt x dx = dt/2 Substituting we get, 1/2∫dt/sin t² = 1/2∫cosec²t dt = -1/2 cot t + C = -1/2 cot²x + C- Abhinav R

Undergrad Understanding AC Circuits: Questions About Light Bulbs and Complex Impedance
1.A regular bulb lights up because inside the bulb, a thin wire called a filament gets very hot and glows. When the alternating current turns off for a fraction of a second, the filament does not cool off enough to stop glowing. That is why you cannot see the flicker with this kind of bulb.- Abhinav R
