Graduate Operator B has a commutator [A,B]
I'm working on a question where the operator B has a commutator [A,B] which is not equal to AB-BA, and instead has a squared term in it. Maybe I just don't understand commutators but what does this mean/how do I use the commutator (to find eigenvectors of A)?- Christine90NY

Undergrad Fluorescent Lamp/ plasma experiment
I have a undergrad college class where we have to do some sort of experiment and we were going to try this one http://mesoscopic.mines.edu/mediawiki/images/9/93/Microwave_flourescentlamp.pdf Is a vacuum chamber required? The article states it's inexpensive and we're trying to figure out how...- Christine90NY

Undergrad Raman Spectroscopy graph question
What are some simple graphs that can be created (in Matlab) relating to Raman Spectroscopy or just basic equations that can somehow be related to it? So far all I've done is graph E=E_0 cos (wt + 1/2 αt^2). And any suggestions of things I should read up on about the topic and understand...- Christine90NY

Undergrad Raman Spectroscopy: Freshman Physics Major Summer Research
I'm a freshman physics major and I'm doing summer research on Raman Spectroscopy. I've read up on it a bit but I was wondering if there are any resources that would help me better understand or at least get a general idea of what this is.- Christine90NY

Physics: Choosing Between Stevens Institute of Technology or NYU for Your Major
I plan on majoring in physics. Where would I be better off - Stevens Institute of Technology or NYU? If I was doing engineering I'd go for Stevens for sure...but is Stevens good for physics too?- Christine90NY
