Transistor acting as a switch in closed circuit (with a thermistor)
Also don't take note of the number of each resistor (R1 or R2) I just drew that up and put the normal resistor first.- DJ-Smiles

Transistor acting as a switch in closed circuit (with a thermistor)
Homework Statement Ok so I have been given a diagram which if it worked should be attached. I am having a fair bit of trouble understanding it. Now I am aware that there is both electrical and conventional currents but I am confused as to whether this is electrical or conventional. I have been...- DJ-Smiles

In Dire need of assistance for optimisation (Area/volume)
Hmm does that mean, I am correct? It is strange because every question that involves rectangles has been giving me trouble because I always seem to get an answer where the sides are equal! If I am correct in all of these cases then I have been tressing for nothing! Also may I ask you to assist...- DJ-Smiles

In Dire need of assistance for optimisation (Area/volume)
Homework Statement A square-based rectangular prism has a total surface area of 54cm^2. Determine the side lengths if the volume is a maximum and hence find the volume. I have done a number of these and I am getting really annoyed because I always get all the sides being equal no matter...- DJ-Smiles

Proving trigonometric identities
Yeah sorry, I knew that but I was just rushing to write this down. Ok I will try that. Now say a different situation comes up say it was : (1-sinx)/(1+sinx)=(1-cosx)/(1+cos). Not sure if that is doable but something along those lines like instead of cot and tan it was cos or sin? what would i do...- DJ-Smiles

Proving trigonometric identities
Homework Statement Prove that: (1-tanθ)/(1+tanθ)=(cotθ-1)/(cotθ+1) Homework Equations Trig Identities: tanθ= sinθ/cosθ cotθ= cosθ/sinθ 1+tanθ=secθ 1+cotθ=cosecθ The Attempt at a Solution These sorts of equations are coming up a lot and I am having trouble understanding...- DJ-Smiles

Quasars as indicators of distance?
I have been doing some thinking about quasars and have been wondering. Are we able to sue the redshift of a quasar to find out the distance of a galaxy? If we know the redshift at a galaxy can't we just use Vrecession= (c*(λ-λo))/(λo), then substitute this value into Vrecession=Hubble's...- DJ-Smiles

Trigonometric identities hard question
Homework Statement Simplify the following: sin(b)/cos(b) + cos(b)/sin(b) Homework Equations Trigonometric identities The Attempt at a Solution Ok so i have no clue how to do this,I keep trying but can't seem to get the right answer, I have tried to do this: sin(b)/cos(b) +...- DJ-Smiles

Year 12 Cosmology extended research task
Hmm ok then. that is actually sounding good. So if I did this, what could my thesis be? and then some arguments to back it up? At first I disregarded that option because I didn't actually know what it would entail. My main concern is the physics behind it. I need to be able to understand it haha...- DJ-Smiles

Year 12 Cosmology extended research task
Hey guys, I am currently in year 12 and have been asked to develop a thesis on cosmology for an Extended research task (ERT) and I am bewildered. Nothing is coming to mind at the moment and I am struggling. I have no idea what to do mine on. the teacher gave us a list of topics that we might...- DJ-Smiles
