Entertaining and fun books about mathematics for liberal arts student
I have read both books. Tbh i didn't really like Logicomix. One the other hand Uncle Petros is one of my all time favourite books (actually this book might have played a role on why i chose to study physics instead of mathematics). I have read it 5 times and it always brings tears to my eyes...- dsatkas

Entertaining and fun books about mathematics for liberal arts student
I’m looking for books of a general interest in maths, like a maths novel, a fun book about maths, a humorous introduction to higher concepts, something outside of tests, something they can read on their free time and appreciate the beauty of mathematics. Let me add more details. I’m working as...- dsatkas

Quantum Which Quantum Mechanics Book is Best for GRE Self Study?
How can someone recommend Shankar to a person who hasn't even attended an introductory QM course is beyond me. I have seen so many times in the forum people recommend advanced texts to beginners that i don't know what to say. Either I'm just a bad student (i'm certainly not great) or people like...- dsatkas

Classical Need a Book on Hydrodynamics for Your Master's Degree in Physics?
I just started my master's degree in physics and one of the courses I've chosen is hydrodynamics. Since i have never done anything similar to this in my undergrad, i feel a bit lost and i would like to start with some sort of an introduction to the subject or fluid mechanics in general and work...- dsatkas

Solid State Looking for Solid State Physics Textbooks? Check Out These Top Picks!
Elementary Solid State Physics: Principles and Applications by Omar the 4th edition is pretty amazing. Imho it is much better than Kittel and the textbook we were using that of Ibach. Much clearer, with explanations not with hand waving and you understand why he's doing all that. Definitely...- dsatkas

Algebra Math textbooks for physics grad student and other questions
I hope this post won't become too tedious. I've completed my undergrad studies in physics and if things go well i will begin my master's degree in April. The thing is, since my path to graduation has been peculiar (to say the least) I'm kinda weak in maths skills atm and need to improve. I'm...- dsatkas

Undergrad Introduction to relativistic quantum mechanics and maybe QFT
I'm aware that most modern textbooks gloss over relativistic qm and jump to qft. Since I'm not that brilliant of a student I'm thinking that i should firstly familiarize myself with relativistic and then go to qft. So my first question: Is it worth it to study relativistic qm or should i jump...- dsatkas

Solid State Good resources for introductory solid state physics and QM
elementary solid state physics with applications by Omar is fantastic. Saddly i discovered it after i passed the course :( My professor used the Ibach-Luth book and was pretty confusing at times. Omar has the same basically layout only he explains the physics behind the mathematics. There are...- dsatkas
