A quarterback throws a football to a stationary receiver
Oh, the /\y and /\x equations? I thought you referred to the x and y components of the velocity.. Well, after trying to set them equal to each other — it gets to a point where the /\t can't be really set equal to the rest of the /\y equation and you have a quadratic of a sort:- Etheryte

A quarterback throws a football to a stationary receiver
1. Homework Statement A quarterback throws a football to a stationary receiver 31.5m away from him. If the football is thrown at an initial angle of 40° to the ground, at what initial speed must the quarterback throw the ball for it to reach the receiver? What's the balls highest point during...- Etheryte

Solving Linear-Nonlinear Systems
1. Homework Statement In a chapter in a book I'm studying from, they introduce quadratic inequalities (all conics, not just parabolas) but don't go over how to deduce which portion of the graph should be shaded. Considering there's two variables involved in these inequalities, I've been having...- Etheryte

Order of courses for self-learning?
Hi there! My name is Andrew, and I am currently a high school junior. I aspire pursue a doctorate degree in Theoretical Physics, specializing in Quantum Physics for thesis, and hopefully becoming a researcher in the field. My small dilemma is that schools become awfully tiresome, and the...- Etheryte

Schools Help Required for High School Senior Courses
I've attempted asking them if enrolling in a college course over the summer would be acceptable — they said that other students that have tried this have had trouble in Calculus because the college courses "moved too fast for them" (which I will try to argue against that statements application...- Etheryte

Schools Help Required for High School Senior Courses
I've somewhat hit a very unwanted bump in the road, and I would like some outside assistance on the matter. I'm currently in my junior year of high school, and I've only covered Algebra 1, Geometry, and I'm currently in Algebra 2. The average student at this school would've taken Algebra 1 in...- Etheryte

What Courses and Textbooks Are Typical in a First-Year Physics Major Curriculum?
I was also meaning to ask this — thank you for answering this in advance! I aspire to major in Quantum Mechanics, but I was unsure whether a bachelors in Theoretical Physics or General Physics would be more suited, or whether it would make any difference at all when pursuing a doctorate. I'm...- Etheryte

I want to learn it all. I'll need a guide.
I feel as if I should begin with a brief introduction, my name is Andrew. I'm currently a junior in high school and I aspire to pursue a doctorate degree in Quantum Physics. I've always been immensely intrigued by physics. As a kid I always questioned so many things and as I grew up I realized...- Etheryte

Graduate How to detect alpha radiation without a counter?
Alright if I have an object that's completely constituted of alpha radiation particles (emitting the +2 charge nucleus of a hydrogen atom), how would that be accurately detected taking into consideration that I don't have a Griegor Counter on hand? Americium-241- Etheryte
