Solving system of 3 quadratic equations
Given the following equation: R = ((Q-P) / |Q-P|) ⋅ V where Q, P, and V are 3 dimensional vectors, R is a scalar, "⋅" denotes the dot product, and |Q-P| is the magnitude of Q-P. Assuming Q, V, and R are known and given 3 independent equations with different values for Q, V, and R that...- Gbl911

Undergrad Average Magnetic Field Between 2 Conducting Rods
I am building small, simple version of a railgun using 2 copper bars and a couple of neodymium magnets to increase the magnetic field. I have also been trying to mathematically describe the magnetic field created by the conducting rods themselves. I am coming across some trouble when trying to...- Gbl911

Graduate What's so unusual about entanglement?
Quantum Entanglement totally does have practical applications. The University of Geneva teleported a particle entangled with another particle over the distance that they were entangled. They actually didn't "teleport" it, the entangled particle on the other end just copied it. Now scientists are...- Gbl911

Compression Nozzles on Model Rockets
I am doing a experiment with model rockets to see if a added compression nozzle on a model rocket would make the engine perform better. As you can see in this picture there is a small clay nozzle immediate to the propellant. This is the same place that you put the igniter. My experiment is...- Gbl911

Undergrad Center of Lift vs. Center of Thrust
Your saying that the center of lift is calculated from all of the fins, body, etc. But if you are traveling perfectly vertical than the fins, body, etc. are only adding stability and drag, no upward force until it starts traveling non-vertical if I am correct. So I am just saying that the exact...- Gbl911

Undergrad Center of Lift vs. Center of Thrust
I have been thinking about the CoL and CoT on rockets. I came to the conclusion that they are in the exact same spot on the rocket since your thrust and lift come from the same thing in the same place, the engine. I read some forums on other websites but didn't get a clear answer. It would be...- Gbl911

Undergrad Why can't we reach to Speed of light at Space?
Actually as far as I know that one something reaches the speed of light space and time bend to keep it a constant so theoretically it is impossible to go past it.- Gbl911

Graduate The Theory of Everything (string theory)
Hello, if you have ever heard of the TOE then you may be able to answer my question on this theory. The theory explains that there are tiny little strings in all atoms. Imagine the universe being an atom, the stings in this atom would be the size of a tree here on Earth. That is how small they...- Gbl911

Can a Model Rocket reach space?
Ok, so how exactly large would this rocket have to be to get into orbit with no other payload than itself? And at this point you wouldn't be using model rocket engines anymore.- Gbl911

Can a Model Rocket reach space?
What about the reduced time it would take to get to space from 30 miles up. And the reduced drag.- Gbl911
