    Solution of magnesium sulfate?

Thanks. So the ratio of water in epsom salts is: 126.0/246.36 = 51.14 % by weight and 48.86% MgSO4. So 48.86% of what weight of epsom salts is 1.24 pounds of MgSO4? Epsom salts = 1.24/0.4886 = 2.54 pounds ? I need to fill my RC blimp envelope with hydrogen.

I would like to make a solution of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) that is 15% magnesium sulfate by mass in water. As magnesium sulfate is sold as epsom salts which is MgSO4 7H2O I need a way to calculated the epsom salts required for the required magnesium sulfate or 1.24 pounds per gallon of water...

Center of buoyancy of a blimp?

I am looking to calculate the center of buoyancy of a model blimp envelope. I have calculated various cross sections of the envelope to get the total volume (and thus the lift) and surface area. By center of buoyancy I mean the point that one could tie a string and add a weight and the...

What Is the Name of the Switch That Turns Off a Water Pump Due to Low Pressure?

What do you call a switch that switches off an electric powered water pump if the pressure drops to low? An example would be if the filter gets clogged up and the pump doesn't get enough water. I see a lot of "water pump pressure switch 40/60 psi" but that is not it. I don't know what...

Aerospace Engineering Projects for Final Year Student

No; stored energy is not allowed. F. W. McCooey in his book "Human Powered Helicopter Design" calculated it would require just over one hp for flight. Humans can not do that.

Aerospace Engineering Projects for Final Year Student

The human powered helicopter is worth 250,000$ if you can hover for one minute and reach 3 meters. That would pay your student loans ;) See the threads in this forum on human powered helicopter before you start.

How to reverse the action of a small 12V DC MOtor

also see: http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_6/chpt_3/7.html The rheostat depends on how 'small' your dc motor is. As mdjensen22 pointed out PWMs are best but they are not cheap. Jameco sells PULSE WIDTH MODULATOR for 25$...

Heating Nichrome Wire with 9.6V Battery - Newbie Help

this maybe helpful:http://www.techlib.com/hobby/hotwire_foam_cutter.htm In the world of foam model airplanes they often use car battery chargers for power source. I use, for 12 inches of straight nichrome wire smaller than a guitar string, a 200 watt lamp in series with a light dimmer and...

A couple of old Bell Labs jokes. Engineer's definition of a mad scientist: "A physicist that has just been referred to as an engineer" Physicist rebuke: "You can make an engineer out of a physicist but you can not make a physicist out of an engineer; it's an irreversible process" {how do you...
