Heat Engines and Work: Combining Two Engines

Homework Statement There is a heat engine with Th on top at 100 J pointing down, Tc on bottom pointing down with 50 J and the work output is 50 J pointing right out of the engine. (ENGINE 1) a) Draw the diagram for a carnot refrigerator which draws 100 J of heat from the hot reservoir (Th...

Never mind, thanks for your help. I have figured it out.

Calculating Work and Energy in Electrostatic Systems

Hello, but aren't we supposed to use electrostatics and find a magnitude for a charge? I really don't see how gravity will help.

I have edited the original thing. Sorry, I forgot about those 2 things.

Calculating Work and Energy in Electrostatic Systems

Homework Statement I decide to use electric charges to move a 1000 kg box up a 30 degree frictionless ramp. I decide to put equal and opposite charges on the box and at the top of the 5.9 meter ramp. Basically there is a right triangle with a box at the bottom with +q written next to it. The...

From what height will two objects hit the ground at the same speed?

Im not sure I understand because when I make \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}} = \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}} then won't h cancel out? also, you haven't taken into account the air resistance on earth?

From what height will two objects hit the ground at the same speed?

I am sure that there is another way to do this because we have not learned about SUVAT or differential equations.

From what height will two objects hit the ground at the same speed?

Hello, I am looking for at what height h will the velocity of the two objects be constant. I don't see how this while help solve. Also, I don't know what each of the variables stands for.

From what height will two objects hit the ground at the same speed?

Unfortunately, no I don't see where to get the equations because if I set it equal the h will cancel out.

From what height will two objects hit the ground at the same speed?

Homework Statement There are 2 objects both with mass 0.50 kg which are dropped from rest at height h. One is dropped on Earth and experiences air resistance and one is dropped on moon and experiences no air resistance. The gravitational acceleration on Earth is 9.8 and on moon it is 1.6...

What is the required coefficient of static friction

Im not really sure if what I am doing is correct because I think it is wrong. Basically there is a downward angled ramp angled at 30 degrees. There is a box of Mass M at the top of the ramp and a string attached to it. The string goes parallel to the ramp until the bottom. At the bottom, it goes...

What is the required coefficient of static friction

Homework Statement Two blocks of equal mass are connected by a rope of negligible mass that is passed over a frictionless pulley as shown in the figure. The angle made by the horizontal plance and the ramp is 30 degrees. a) If the system is in this configuration and neither block moves what...
