Parallel Plate Capacitor (work and potential difference)
I figured out part a, but part b is confusing given the problem. I found a formula in my textbook about potential difference between the two capacitor plates as: V = Ed. However this cannot be found as E and d are not given in the problem. I also know that V = Q/C, but capacitance is unknown as...- jrzygrl

What Is the Charge on Earth Producing Its Electric Field?
Homework Statement Near the surface of the Earth there is an electric field with a magnitude of about 92 N/C directed vertically down. Assume this field is caused by a net free charge on the Earth. (a) What are the magnitude and sign of the charge on the total Earth that produces this...- jrzygrl

What is the question looking for?
The first component is the x and the second is the y. I'm assuming the path the mouse took was a straight line so basically you compare the points in terms of change in x and change in y. How much did the mouse move in the x direction to get to point C? How much did the mouse move in the y...- jrzygrl

Parallel Plate Capacitor (work and potential difference)
Homework Statement Professor Milly Coulomb finds it takes 3.0 J of work to drag, at constant speed, a -9.0 mC charge between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor. (a) What is the work done by the electrical force in taking the charge between the plates? (b) What is the potential...- jrzygrl

What is the altitude of the plane?
Homework Statement A jet fighter in level flight passes directly overhead at a speed corresponding to Mach number 1.29. The sonic boom is heard by you on the ground 11.9 s later. What is the altitude of the plane? Assume (unrealistically) the speed of sound does not change with altitude...- jrzygrl
