In my last year of electrical engineering, I will have the freedom and option of taking 5-6 courses from this long exhaustive list of electives:

My question is, do the courses I take, specifically those...
Have you ever learned to do nodal analysis?
I found it less confusing than the methods I was taught in high school or first year.

You pick any node and call it the reference node or the ground, i.e. 0V.
If the branch only has a...
Homework Statement
t^2 y' + 4ty - y^3 = 0
Homework Equations
Hint was given in the question: substitute with v = y^-2
The Attempt at a Solution
Dividing by t^2 and isolating y':
t^2 y' = y^3 - 4ty
y' = y^3 / t^2 - 4y/t
dv/dt = 0
y = v^(-1/2)
dy/dt = (-1/2)v^(-3/2) v'
so...
Homework Statement
Which one of the following subsets of P_{2} (degree of 2 or below) are subspaces?
a) a_{2}t^{2} + a_{1}t + a_{0}, where a_{1} = 0 and a_{0} = 0
b) a_{2}t^{2} + a_{1}t + a_{0}, where a_{1} = 2a_{0}
c) a_{2}t^{2} + a_{1}t + a_{0}, where a_{2} + a_{1} + a_{0} = 2

You have to think about the basic closed under addition and closed under multiplication properties, to see if a) or b) satisfy them.
For example, would adding f(a)=0 and say g(a)=0 still be in this subspace?
What about for f(a)+g(a) = 1 + 1?
That should give you a clear hint.
Homework Statement
A 2 kg block moves north at an unknown velocity. It then explodes into two blocks, the first one being 1.2 kg and moves EAST at 10 m/s, the second one is 0.8 kg and moves 22 m/s at an angle North of West.
What is the initial MOMENTUM of the 2kg block?
Homework...
1. draw diagram
2. sum forces in x and y direction
3. sum torques around a chosen point, in this case i would choose the point to be at where the beam and the wall connect because you actually have a reaction force there, and its good to cancel them out if your chosen point is there
sum of...
uh from what i learned..
1.draw a free body diagram
2. in an equations u sum the forces (in this case in the vertical direction) and they add up to 0 since its static equilibrium
3. pick a Point on the free body diagram and sum the torques around it
I don't know if you learned this yet...
Hi all, I am currently in the last year of high school, and currently I am considering what faculty to enter in University.. most likely Engineering or Computer Science, because the admission average for Science is way too high for me. I am mostly interested in physics, math, and computers.
I...
I am having a review test soon and I was not taught anything about ionic stuff last year, I have no idea what it is at all.
Sample questions look like:
"which of the following compounds are considered to be ionic solids? If it is an ioni solid, write an equation showing the dissociation of...
first.. its about the quotient rule
say we are findnig the derivative of something such as x / (x-1)^2
for the derivative of the denominator, do we treat the denominator's exponent as 2 or -2, since its a denominator? (confused with the perspective and approach you take)
today i was...
hello there... thanks for the reply, I happen to be using Barron's 8th edition book, it doesn't give much help on how to do this and that but has a lot of questions which get me thinking.
theres always the calculus - type questions involved with material from previous years, such as ln, e^x...
