What does Young's Modulus x 2nd Moment of Area Equal

There is a problem regarding a frame and the moment distribution method and I need to find the force that that will cause first yield to take place on the fram. It seems a bit involved to put the whole question here so thought Id ask a basic question and the first I think is to get the relative...

What does Young's Modulus x 2nd Moment of Area Equal

Will I also have to divide by the beam length too??

What does Young's Modulus x 2nd Moment of Area Equal

Hi all I need to find the relative stiffnes of certain I beams from here http://tsbluebook.steel-sci.org/EN/Browsers/Main.htm Im assuming all I need to do times the Youngs Modulus by the 2nd Moment of Area In my head I am making it more complicated than it should be so I hope this is all it...

    Solve Static Equilibrium Qs: 17.55kN & 17.45kN, 15.63kN & 16.37kN

I think that means the sum of the forces in the x and y direction must be 0 I think the sum of the moments must also be 0 I kinda get that but not really when it comes to the examples if you know what i mean

    Solve Static Equilibrium Qs: 17.55kN & 17.45kN, 15.63kN & 16.37kN

Hi I have some questions to go through for static equilibrium...I have the answers but I have no idea how to do these really - I am guessing most of them without really understanding I can't remember doing physics in shcool at all and since its been the best part of 20 years since school...

What is the output for my simple surveying calculations?

I think I may have figured it out for tension at least Should have put 28134 rather than 28.134 so that does come out as 1.07 mm I THINK :)

What is the output for my simple surveying calculations?

Hi hope somebody can help Have some simple calculations to do for surveying (see attachment) but not sure what the output is I am getting Its not homework its practice really ...the formulas are given so its really just a matter of figuring out what the output is I guess not sure Been...

Predicted deflection of a rectangular steel beam

Oh hang on does the load go into this formula as 20N as which would give 3.6mm deflection??

Predicted deflection of a rectangular steel beam

Amazing...thankyou I have a similar issue and the results I am getting are not comming in as what they should be..yet again Using the same beam and apparatus but this time the loads are two 20N loads placed symetrically on the beam 220mm apart and 220mm from a support Using the same...

Predicted deflection of a rectangular steel beam

Ok i think I have it at last so the result I am getting is 0.00432 that's 4.32 mm...is that correct?

Predicted deflection of a rectangular steel beam

Thanks for the reply I had a feeling it may be the units somewhere but I've never heared of some of these units in my life :) so not sure how to convert and to what Should I convert them to inches or something...aint got a clue really I know there are some online calculators that can be...

Predicted deflection of a rectangular steel beam

Hi Im am trying to find out a predicted deflection of a steel rectangular beam of uniform cross section (which is 12.7mm wide x 6.4mm deep). The beam is simply supported at both ends and has a span of 660mm. The load is to be placed in the middle of the beam. I have the formula to be used...
