My understanding is that it should be completely independent of the gateway (I could be wrong on this, though). Unfortunately, I don't have another router handy to test it out.
When you tried with two DD-WRT routers, did you try it with everything set exactly the same as your ISP's gateway?
Ok, so I have my desktop connected to my Linksys E2500 router with DD-WRT installed, and the router acting as a repeater to get my desktop on the internet (see my previous thread).
Now I'm just wondering whether it would be better to have my wireless devices connect to the E2500, or directly...
Ok, so I got things working by setting it up as a repeater, following these instructions. Means my desktop is on a different subnet, but that's not a big deal.

I'm trying to stream media from my windows 7 PC to my chromebook. I followed the instructions on this page to set it up, but I'm having problems with avi files. mp4 files stream properly, but avi files are downloaded, not streamed. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
