Why Won't My AVI Files Stream from Windows 7 PC to Chromebook?

AI Thread Summary
Streaming media from a Windows 7 PC to a Chromebook can lead to issues with AVI files, which may download instead of streaming. While MP4 files stream without problems, AVI files often require higher bandwidth due to their compression levels. To resolve the streaming issue, converting AVI files to MP4 is recommended, as this format is more compatible and efficient for streaming. Reducing the file size through conversion or compression can enhance streaming performance and ease the process.

I'm trying to stream media from my windows 7 PC to my chromebook. I followed the instructions on this page to set it up, but I'm having problems with avi files. mp4 files stream properly, but avi files are downloaded, not streamed. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Assuming your .avi files have minimal or no compression, the issue is that the required bandwidth is too high to stream them to your chromebook. Convert / compress an .avi file to .mp4 and compare the difference in the sizes of the files.

There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...
