The article covers a wide variation of the theme, not limited to the initial Dyson concept. A ring is just a slice out of a sphere and the ring subclass is referred to as a niven ring. Other than that anything else is a matter of scale. -

This is QM, but the concept is more like a particle can be anyplace. Not the same as being in more than one place at once. I think there is some Astrophysics (as well as some other areas) work being done on "rolled up dimensions". I'm inclined to say that the words "tiny" and "microscopic"...- NoTime

Welcome to PF. You are right that it is a complex problem. I don't know of any tables for your example, but that doesn't mean much. Temperature rise will depend on how large the convection air currents generated by the heat from the power dissipated in the wire are (and thermal radiation)...- NoTime

Because the output loop is resonant there should be some energy storage in the output loop (like riding a swing). It will be important to keep the output loops resistance as low as possible. I'm no expert, but orbital mechanics being what they are, I'm sure there is an exact minimum energy solution to your scenario. Just a thought. Well, the amount of energy to kick the rover up is the same amount that they have to get rid of to stop going down. Since they survived the "Takeoff" they should survive the landing. If they have any delta v capability at all, then the landing should be less stressful.- NoTime

Is it possible to control LED lights with a DVD player output?
You would need to decode the composite output from the DVD player into RGB outputs. You could connect your display to the monitor output of a computer. Or scavenge some of the circuitry from an old TV. I don't know if a standalone composite to RGB converter is available, perhaps.- NoTime

Eimac Type 8533 Planar Triode Connections?
It's been a long time since I did anything with this, but IIRC they just went in order. Filament filament cathode grid plate. The plate connection having the largest separation from the other contacts. Perhaps if you contacted the ARRL they might have some more info on the tube and socket...- NoTime
