I understand it's not okay to treat the dt's as a part of a fraction, but I'm learning calc alongside with physics and this is the only thing I could think of. It's not correct, but I would love to learn how to rewrite it as you suggested.
Vrel * dm = m * dv
1500 * 0.8 = dv

#1.) A rocket exhausts fuel with a velocity of 1500 m/s, relative to the rocket. It starts from outer space with fuel comprising 80 per cent of the total mass. When all the fuel has been exhausted the speed is...

Hi, Math forums!
I need some help with a circle question.
3x^2 + 12x + 3y^2 - 5y = 2
And I was supposed to find the radius and center of the circle, So I first divided by 3:
x^2 +4x + y^2 - 5/3y = 2/3
And then I complete the square
x^2 + 4x + 4 + y^2 - 5/3y + 25/36 = 2/3 + 12/3 +...
well, no I was just looking at it from a different perspective. Instead of a man jumping 3 feet at 45 degrees, I start from his highest point and act as if he is a ball rolling off a table and landing 1.5 meters away at 45 degrees.

Hi, i have a small problem, can you guys help?
1.
A man jumps a maximum horizontal distance of 3 meters. How far can he jump on the moon, where downward acceleration is g/6?

Hi, Physics Forum!
I have three problems. Since I am having a physics final on Tuesday, I am very nervous that I don't get these. These all concern one-dimensional motion.
1.) A plane is landing on the runway. It stops after 1100 meters, with an initial velocity of 110...
well, I would first find the resultant force, the force that's pulling the object down parallel the ramp.
Force resultant=sin(theta) mass x g
So if there was no friction, then the object would only have that force and would accelerate down more quickly than if there was
friction.
But...

Ok, so for number two, I got up to this
Y-displacement= Vi*T + (-4.9) t^2
1.05= Vi*T +(-4.9) t^2
10 meters (x-displacement) = Vx * T
T= 10/Vx
1.05= Vy * (10/Vx) + (-4.9)(10/Vx)
tan45= Vy/Vx
Vx=Vy/tan45
Vx=Vy
1.05= 10 +(-4.9) (10/Vx)
I can't think anymore
Can anyone help, please?

So yesterday, after being confused about two dimensional motion for eons, my physics teacher finally told me that variables could be substituted in other equations. That was when something went CLICK in my mind, and I went home, confident that with this new realization, I...
By switching to positive, I ust meant I flipped it upside down- the movement towards the ground is now the positive direction. Then, the angle it was thrown at is 75 degrees instead of -15. (Does that work out?)
It just makes stuff easier- no fiddly negative directions to deal with.

So a ball is launched off a cliff 60 meters high
It is thrown at -15 degrees horizontal, and lands 120 meters away.

Yeah! Thanks alot- it was the final y velocity which messed me up. I tried to use
V(final)=V(initial) + gt, making it
V(f) = 0 + 9.8(0.45)= 4.41
Except that I accidently kept on putting 0.98 as g instead of 9.8, causing lots of confusion.
As for the other problem, I hope that the...
