High School Which Rays to Consider for Image Formation via Concave and Convex Lenses?
Thanks for the details and it helps me to clarify a lot but I have seen image formation concluded where two rays merge after converging - the third ray might not even converge at the same point : http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/geoopt/image2.html#c2 Here you can see if we consider...- PrakashPrasad

High School Which Rays to Consider for Image Formation via Concave and Convex Lenses?
I get terribly confused to consider which rays for determining image formation via concave and convex lens? Many times examples take 3 rays into consideration - 1) A ray passing through Focus 2) A ray passing Optical Center (center of curvature) and 3)A ray parallel to principal focus. But the...- PrakashPrasad

What is the speed of sound and time period of oscillating particles?
I have a question to solve - A boy heard a sound of frequency 100 Hz at a distance of 500 m from the source of sound. What is the speed of sound? What is the time period of oscillating particles of the medium? I have approached the below way : We know that speed = distance / time...- PrakashPrasad

High School Why are work and energy different even though they have the same units?
Well is W = E ? I am not going by definition but rather its unit of measurement which in this case is Joule (for both Work & Energy)? So why we state that work is said to be done when a is force applied on a body and it displaces while energy is ability or capacity to do work - why are the unit...- PrakashPrasad

High School Why are work and energy different even though they have the same units?
Work unit is said to be Joule and Energy unit is also Joule. Work formulas in F x S ( Force x Displacement) . We know 1 J = 1 F x `1 s Now Energy is also measured in Joule(J) So can we state : E = 1 F x 1 s as 1 J = 1 F x 1 s that is E = W Then why work and energy are different by definition...- PrakashPrasad

Undergrad Pressure in Liquid: Why Height Doesn't Matter
As per the experiment if I have a ball filled with water and make holes in it in many places - now pressure exerted by water on the walls of the ball is same across the surface of the ball - now this is what confusing me - let us say that the height / depth of ball is h. So the pressure exerted...- PrakashPrasad

Undergrad Pressure in Liquid: Why Height Doesn't Matter
I am reading pressure in liquids and at one point it states that Pressure of liquid at any point = Depth x Density of Liquid x g (gravity) But then it continues to state that Pressure is transmitted in liquid equally when I studied earlier that pressure in liquid increases with height then...- PrakashPrasad

High School Why Ships Float: Displacing Water vs Weight in Air
Does the amount of water displaced by an object needs to be greater than its weight (in air) for it to float in water? Say a bowl of 5 kg displaces 4 kg of water - will it float or sink? If it sinks the if it had displaced 5 kg of water would it float? That is the volume of water displaced by...- PrakashPrasad

High School Constant Velocity : Does it means objects is at Rest
I have been studying that velocity = displacement / time. Now what if displacement / time always gives me same value - does it means that object is at rest as displacement is same then the body has not moved at all. So in above graph velocity is constant - ie displacement wrt to time is same...- PrakashPrasad
