Homework Statement
I know this is basic but I'm stumped
Homework Equations
a runner runs 6.5 laps around a 400m track, what's the displacement. I thought it would be 200m but the answer provided says 160m and I just can't work out how to get to this answer
The Attempt at a Solution
Nope I'm lost. But thanks for your help.I feel like its in there but the more i try to make sense of it the more my brain feels like exploding. 32N pushes down on his shoulder and 32N back up - pivot point must be 0.3m from his shoulder and 0.7m from his hand ? I don't get vertical components...
thankyou tiny-tim! - not sure if I'm completely on the right track but am feeling warmer.
Three forces on the board - the 32N and then his hand and shoulder will have reaction forces yes? So moments would be moment of inertia I am thinking I=mr2
If I do 1.5 (the some point?...pivot point!) and x...
conservation of energy principle?
I have a similar problem and stuck too. I'm thinking if the down part of the balls flight equals the same as the up part then I was thinking you can work out the second half of the flight with vf2 = vi2 + 2ad, knowing the initial velocity for the return trip is...
Homework Statement
A 3m board is carried and has a weight of 32N. 1.8m sticks out behind the carriers shoulder,1.2m in front and his hand is 0.4m from the shoulder.How much downward force needs to be applied at the hand to stabilise the board. Assume the weight is evenly distributed along the...
Homework Statement
A juggler throws a ball at 10m/s and it takes 0.24 seconds to reach the ceiling which is 2.4m high. As this ball reaches the ceiling he throws a second ball also at 10m/s. How long after 2nd ball is thrown do they pass
Homework Equations
maybe just too late but I am...
Homework Statement
A diver is spinning, I know the moment of inertia and the angular velocity. I've been asked to calculate angular momentum. Just H=Iw (yes?) Just when I show the answer is it kg.m or radians?
Homework Equations
H=Iw
The Attempt at a Solution
I=18kgm2
w = 7.9...
Homework Statement
two divers jump on a diving board, who will jump highest, Weights of divers are known and velocity they are jumping at. I'm stuck finding the right formula, I know the board has to deform, stored energy has an influenece. I think its a basic question but my brain has...
