What is the phase of the SHM at that point

Homework Statement A mass is attached to a spring on a frictionless horizontal surface. The mass is pulled to stretch the spring by 0.1 m, & then gently released. A short time later, as the mass passes through the equilibrium position, its speed is 1 m/s. Part a) What is the speed of...

How Fast Does Ozone Travel After Collision?

Homework Statement A 32-u oxygen molecule (O2) moving in the +x-direction at 580 m/s collides with an oxygen atom (mass 16 u) moving at 870 m/s at 27° to the x-axis. The particles stick together to form an ozone molecule. Find the ozone’s velocity. Homework Equations The Attempt...

Find the vector and find the magnitude of the vector

I'm a bit confused. The value I got, 14.523 units, is that the answer for part b, which is to find the magnitude? So if I understand what you're saying, part a is to either draw the vector on the diagram or write out the components. Example answer is Vector C = 6.27i + 13.1j units.

Find the vector and find the magnitude of the vector

Homework Statement Vectors A and B are shown in the figure. Vector C is given by C=B-A. The magnitude of vector A is 15.0 units, and the magnitude of Vector B is 5.00 units. Part a) Find the vector C? Part b) What is the magnitude of vector C? Homework Equations SOHCAHTOA...

How Many People Can an Elevator Hold Without Breaking the Cable?

    This is what I've gotten so far. Since "require that the cable tension never exceed two-thirds of the breaking tension" : F = ma F = (2/3)*(19500) F = 13000 Max Acceleration = 2.24 m/s^2 Acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s^2 Acceleration = 2.24 + 9.81 = 12.05 m/s^2 So, F =...
