Undergrad What happens during acceleration in twin paradox?
Hi, I just recently studying special relativity in my class. It's fun and I kind of understand what's going on. But the professor skips the acceleration/deceleration part because it's for advance level. So what happens during the acceleration and deceleration (assuming the object won't get...- vraeleragon

Simple Calculus question, but whaaattt?
Simple Calculus question, but whaaattt?? Hi, I have a confusing math problem. So I tried to integrate \frac{x+1}{2}. Apparently I got 2 answers. answer 1. Using u substitution u=x+1, it becomes ∫\frac{1}{2}u du = \frac{u^2}{4} --> \frac{1}{4}(x+1)^{2} which becomes...- vraeleragon

Engineering What to choose: physicist, engineer, or something else?
uhm because i thought engineers make good money? yea i know.. i kind of regretted it now. i'll start focusing on one thing at a time. thank you very much though. i'll look around :)- vraeleragon

Engineering What to choose: physicist, engineer, or something else?
What to choose: physicist, engineer, or something else?? To those who read this post, thank you first for reading this I really need help as soon as possible. Currently I'm a freshman majoring in materials engineering. I chose that major because I thought it's a combination of chemistry and...- vraeleragon

What to do as physics undergraduate
Hi, I'm a freshman physics undergrad. I'm wondering what I can do in my four years. I have no job or research position, and I don't know if I should get one by now. I'm still in the middle of freshman physics series though. I don't even know what focus I want. Probably particle physics, but I...- vraeleragon

Rolling cylinder on surface with friction (initially slipping)
Hi, I'm trying to solve this, but I keep getting both sides of the equation to be the same >.< A solid cylinder is initially moving along a flat surface without rotating. Due to the action of friction, it eventually begins rolling without slipping. The coefficient of friction is 0.22, the...- vraeleragon

Courses Taking 3 Math courses in the same quarter
well, in ucla, the sequence is 31A, 31B (calc single variable), 32A, 32B (both multivar calc), 33A (linear algebra), 33B (diff eq). As of PDE or ODE, I don't know anything about that :( so I can't tell. I wonder why in your school multivar is the last though.- vraeleragon

Courses Taking 3 Math courses in the same quarter
Hahahah yea I go to ucla. I already asked some students, and none of them said it'll be too much problem. I'm asking it here to compare those courses from another school. Well, I don't know how mathematically oriented I am--32A (Calc of Several Var) is my first freshmen math class, but from my...- vraeleragon

Courses Taking 3 Math courses in the same quarter
Hi, I'm a freshman undergrad and I want to declare major in physics. Even though the department counselor wants me to take 1 math classes at a time, the summer schedule doesn't really fit together since one math class has a time conflict with another physics class (plus I'm being stubborn). I...- vraeleragon
