    Engineering Mechanical or Civil Engineering

Environmental, water sanitation and transport (the actual coordination of it and not the design of particular vehicles) tend to be civil matters. Medical and the more finite aspects of green energy are more mechanical. I know a lot of people claim mechanical engineers can do everything a civil...

Pros and cons of taking applies mechanics

I'm assuming you're in engineering (due to the Statics and Dynamics). I would suggest you do the Statics and Dynamics--if there is a single equivalent course (assuming it is done over one semester) it would be much harder IMO. Statics was literally the easiest thing ever, however, Dynamics was...

Programs Sophomore engineering major, is this planned schedule going to be too difficult?

That schedule really isn't so bad--IMO, of course.

How do I know that I really want to study Math?

I was in the exact same boat (except it was Mechanical for me) and I pulled the trigger (except I'm hedging my bets a little by taking Pure and Applied with a specialization in Stats and Actuarial Sciences). Put simply: engineering wasn't for me--the overall lack of rigour was disheartening IMO...

Engineering curriculum the way it should be ?

Linear Algebra comes in handy for almost everything past Calc. 2 IMO. Have fun in ODE with no idea about solving systems of linear equations--triple that for Laplace Transforms (at least at my school).

New Student Struggles: 4 Classes at Once

Is Physics 2 calc-based E&M? Also, is Calc 3 the engineering version or pure math version? The aforesaid makes a different IMO. If the answer to the 2 questions above is YES I would say it is definitely doable.

Waterloo Mechatronics vs. U of T Eng Sci

McGill--transfer from Concordia. Put simply, I doubt you can get the same GPA in both programs. If you achieve a high GPA in EngSci you would most likely be able to maintain a PERFECT GPA in Mechatronics. In terms of admission to a high calibre school like MIT I doubt it would make much...

    Mathematics to Mechanical Engineering

Your best choice would be Mathematical Modelling (I'm assuming you did a few math model classes during your undergrad). I have 2 Mech. teachers that did that.

Waterloo Mechatronics vs. U of T Eng Sci

In Canada Waterloo is known as the best engineering school (it's pretty much ONLY known for hard sciences/engineering), however, EngSci is considered a really exclusive (and insanely difficult) program. From my understanding EngSci students and engineers tend to compete for the same jobs and...

What else can I do with a BS in Mathematics?

I have a teacher in Mech. Eng. who has a BS and MS in Math but a PhD in Mech. Eng--one of the best teachers I've ever had too.

Partial differential equations class with only calc III?

If you're doing Engineering PDE's I'd say go for it; otherwise, please take ODE first. In Engineering PDE class you will likely do the wave equation, heat equation and Laplace's equation--they are really simple, straightforward ODE's (after solving them); however, if you are taking a Math class...

Amount of math covered in a typical undergraduate engineering program?

All of calculus (including ODE's, PDE's, Fourier and Laplace Transforms); also, it usually includes Numerical Methods and basic Statistics. In EE they usually do Discrete Math as well.

Is Engineering the Right Career for Me?

I completely agree Homeomorpic--the school caters to the students. Any time a teacher even attempts to derive an equation a sea of groans is heard across the room/auditorium. It's quite shocking.

Is Engineering the Right Career for Me?

Doing mathematical proofs may not make money directly but if you really think that there are no jobs linked to being a Math/Stat major you are simply wrong. As I said, in Canada, both Statisticians and Actuaries are quite in demand--far more than Mechanical Engineers, however, this is...

Calculus 1 (I'm taking the class in a week.)

^^^Maybe you had a Calculus 1 and 2 joint class?^^^ Calculus 2 was trig heaven (or hell if you don't like it--I do) compared to calculus 1--in my experience, at least.
