I think Philomena had Brian Cox in mind when she did "time."

I mean at least she should have worn her helmet for the entire time 🤣 There is no telling what brian cox would do after hearing the beacon joke 💀

This is so great. British comedienne Diane Morgan does an incredible job portraying the clueless journalist/documentarian.

It reminds me of the time my Dad invited the school janitor and his son over to see my new TRS-80 micro. My Dad told me that the son was interested in learning about computers.

I went into the spiel of explaining how the magic of the computer worked: keyboard, cassette drive, printer…

His first question was, "How do I enter my homework?" I’m like, what??? Yeah, you know, so it can do my homework for me.

Sadly, I had to break it to him that that's not how computers work. You have to know how to compute the answer and write a program, and then you'll get your answers.

I had one disappointed kid. His real passion was fast cars. I often wonder what he is doing now and whether he became a mechanic and gotten the car of his dreams.

Also, I wonder if he’s tried today's AI that could do his homework but with caveats and II wonder how I’d answer his or his grandkids today.

Why yes, it can do your homework, but would you really trust your grades on its answers if you can't do the homework yourself?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry,

I suspect there are more people like the interviewer than is comfortable to think about.

Of course, like Borat, she is just a character, so we can all have a laugh, but the scary thing is that people like that actually exist.

Thanks
Bill

There was one poor Miss America beauty contestant who flubbed her final essay question in front of millions by just aimlessly rambling. through her answer.

She reminded me of the actress in the Ghostbusters movie opening where Bill Murray smiles at her not caring what she said while zapping the other student in a telepathic test.

My mother once said of global warming "why can't they just air condition the crops?"

I remember discussing global warming with an aquantance.

I explained about chaotic systems, tipping points etc.

They said so what's the problem.

Thanks

I had a woman customer once ask me if the store sold self-abasement tape.

When I asked what it was, she said you it's sticky on both sides

Oh okay you want self-adhesive tape and her to out hardware department.

Philomena Cunk is great because her character is like the host of a documentary.

By contrast, there was Ali G (another character of Sacha Baron Cohen, in addition to Borat)

(and in honor of the upcoming NBA finals: Ali G Interviews NBA Stars (full) )
