CONGRATULATIONS Ladies and Gentlemen of the Subforum

This is a single consolidated thread to give our proud congratulations to people who visit this subforum whenever we hear of them giving a conference talk, or getting a paper through peer-review and accepted for publication, or even just posting research papers on arxiv prior to professional review (because that is a step along the way.)

The idea of a consolidated thread is it takes up less room.

The occasion for such a thread is that quite a few of those visiting the subforum recently HAVE been publishing their articles in professional journals, or posting on arxiv, or taking part in conferences. This is great to see!

It condenses some of our discussions in the adyacent subforum. It does not present a concrete model, so probably it does not qualify for publication, but just a a note to keep in mind.

every component of the "system"---Hans, you, PF, and hep-ph---worked in exemplary fashion, didn't it? hep-ph is a good place to be, for the information that you two discovered.

Kirill Krasnov!

IIRC Krasnov collaborated with Laurent Freidel is some of the earliest papers on the Group Field Theory way to present spinfoam. Or else he worked on similar things in parallel. (also there was the BH entropy result)

Also there is an intelligent blogger at Nottingham called Satz.
He keeps the blog "Reality Conditions".

Obviously I mention these things not to you f-h, since you would already know this and much more about your new location, but in case anyone else is reading. I think it must be a very good place to do a PhD thesis.
(In my mind on par with London Imperial and possibly Cambridge.)

Yeah, it's going to be the PhD there. Probably with Barrett. I did my Diploma thesis (German equivalent of Masters) in Marseille (where I spend more time developing questions then answers).

Watch out for the Sheriff there, he has a bad reputation

I hear he has a rather high bounty out on everyone making Robin Hood jokes ;)

or
"Cheers to members of the Subforum"Either alternative would be shorter and not so formal-sounding as

"Congratulations Ladies and Gentlemen of the Subforum"Does anyone have a different suggestion?
Would anyone especially like to keep the present thread title unchanged?

If there is agreement on changing it, we can ask selfAdjoint if he can do that and if it would be convenient. Or one of the other mentors, like ZapperZ.

If they don't want to bother (maybe it is complicated) that is all right too. I guess the formal-sounding long-winded title is OK.

Last week I also received an email from the publisher asking me if I was interested in writing a review on Lee Smolin´s upcoming book. I agreeded of course and he replied that he would be sending me a copy right away, but... I have not received it yet... Probably it will take some time to reach me here in Brazil. The publisher also wrote that he could arrange for an interview with Lee Smolin online, or have him write something for my blog. That would be very nice and I look forward to it.

I could read Bee's review via Mixed States but I have no access to her blog from my office right now, so I cannot read Smolin's comments. I will have to wait until I get home tonight. Her review is interesting and I always like her style. I am eager to read his book and write my impressions.
