No idea what you mean, but if you are happy, I am happy with you.

GASP! Now I can have a little birdhouse in my Soul! :)

And, seriously, if I buy a Kia Soul, you must help me to find a teeny weeny birdhouse to hang from the mirror. LOL

Funny. That's what EMS and Firefighters call police officers (in a good-humored way).

You've seen the light? I have no idea what you mean either, though that lighthouse on Long Beach Island, NJ in those search results is the Barnegat Lighthouse. I made a model of it for a school project in elementary school. If you have a kid who needs to do a school project that requires a model to go with it, I highly recommend lighthouses...some plaster of paris in a cone-shaped mold and red paint in the approriate striped pattern is all that's needed.

I know what it means! I know what it means! ooh! ooh! Teacher - ask me, ask me!

Okay, that's bad. I had to read the comments to understand what they were singing. Lots of mumbling into a mic there.

That's just the way the song sounds. Being live doesn't help much.

Now how about these Chi?

So... you'd say this thread has left you twisting in the wind?

If I linked to the Flood thread, would that help? :-p

@TMFKAN64: It's a song... the lyrics you found might be mispelled, but otherwise, huh?!

EDIT:

To be fair, there is a much better version that isn't live. That said, the studio recording was done at a very low volume, and some of the mumbling during the "your only friend, but really..." is intentional.

Have a look at: Mammal, King of Spain, Road Movie To Berlin, Turn Around, Doctor Worm, Subliminal (gut busting), ... oh hell, who am I kidding, I um... own them all but backed on mp3. Heh... go figure.

...Dinner Bell, I Palindrome I, Ball & Chain...

Ahh the soundtrack of my preteen/teenage years.

"My name is blue canary one note spelled L-I-T-E." Not "light" as in the website. :-)

But sorry, I meant to say that "lite" was misspelled, not "nite". My bad.

Quite correct, they should have advertised the "Blue Canary Nite Lite."

Then it would be the Blue Canary Nite Lite Site.

Alrite!

Damn, I missed the first one. Here's a good one... If you know the song it's easy, if not... Then again, it's not QUITE right, but the best I could find!

Maybe then you can tell me why every time I sit down I end up flat on my ***?!

"When summer brings you down..."

I remember
the day that mini-EP arrived
the tiny CD wouldn't fit the player
at our college radio station

Somebody put the disk in a drawer
where after a while it disappeared
I knew it at the time I should have
gone ahead and took it home

Swing and a miss! Good miss though... Don't think "wig".

Here... referencing a lyrics and not just a title:

'they came out with...'
46johnsonswax.jpg

EDIT: Remember, two TMBG songs, one referencing the picture, one referencing why I keep falling when I sit down!

@Borek: They are... while the picture is of a wig, think of something more revealing, but similar. Think of men, not women in this case.

EDIT2: Hint, the picture based one is obscure TMBG. The second is not.

No, not amiss.

"p... t... will show the way when summer brings you down."

The "lyrics" I posted is sung to that tune, but is my memory of when the mini CD of the pre-release of that song was sent to the radio station where I DJ'd while in college. We had an old CD player that wouldn't play mini CD's. I thought at the time "I should just take it," but someone else thought the same thing and did.

And:

Would it be okay with you if we wrote a reminder
Of things we'll forget to do today otherwise,
Using a green magic marker, if it's alright,
On the back of your head?

Oh damn you're GOOD.

REALLY good.

I'm guessing the "falling down" thing didn't throw you at all then. Ahhh... Chi, I don't know you, but already I like you.

EDIT: A friend just informed me that I have been "served".

Well, that's clearly not where those eyes go, not when there is cranial ossus in front of him!

The bird has me stumped. Really stumped. If it were dark in the picture... nah. Stumped.

I nevah heard that tune before.. though I did note the 2nd reference in the lyrics

There's a picture opposite me
Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I'd be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off and countless screaming Argonauts
Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels its always near

I liked those pictures.. I've been to the Cape Hatteras beacon. It is a candy striped one.

...Whereas you quoting the lyrics had me humming, then singing within seconds. Good thing my windows are double-glazed.

I did not get that it was a reference to Cape Hatteras. Wow. I just got back from a trip down to NC (Raleigh-Durham sadly, not Cape Hatteras)... I got back saturday. Is this a reference to the beacon or "Hatteras Jack"?

Not to put too fine a point on it, should we rather be making little birdhouses in something more physically verifiable?

Incidentally, my kids have recently become fans. “Dr Worm” came on as we were driving yesterday. My gorgeous half cheered and sang along and the kids were distracted with stuff in the back, but towards the end of the song, the words had sunk through. They lost it!

How about this song title? Too easy?

Me too... I was thinking "Beelzebub has a devil set aside for you", but I think that's just me being dramatic. I can't tell if that's a vampire, or a noble... *shrug*. I've been looking through my catalogue too... utterly stumped.

Ok, sorry, I’ve been imprecise. In saying “Title” and “easy”, I just meant I’d been a bit lazy, and that it was about a song in general, not specifically the title or any lines. More precisely still, it is an artsy interpretation.

I'm fairly sure John L has said that this is what he had written the song about, despite not knowing of it at the time of writing:smile:. So, it is a nice inter-genre reference, or even more broadly, reference of various arts, including a Shavian play, and about likening an artistic effect.

Not a vampire, a rendering of a deceased Commandantore or something like that.

An alternative 'Birmingham Rhapsody' has been illustrated, with captions to 'Beelzebub has a special putter sized for me ...Just got to get trout..."

Is that Don Giovanni?

"This song is about Don Giovanni, although I didn't know that at the time when I wrote it"

Original title lyrics being: "The Apple of My Eye"?

Linnell will still say that line right before the song when performing live. I recalled "Don Giovanni" but I had to wiki which song it was about. (TMBW)

Congratulations on the most erudite clue possible.

You know, I started this thread simply to remark on the fact that after 20 years of this song "being around," from high rotation on the Old MTV, Top 40 in US, #1 TotP in UK, sustained fandom over three decades, and only NOW is an actual blue canary nitelite made available!

And we needed a new nitelite anyway for our boy's room (Ben, <== on my shoulders there at 3 years old, now five) has decided that he is afraid of the dark. This is due to reading a story of a boy who was afraid of the dark and Benny thought that this was a very good idea!

Being a borderline-obsessive fan [I will now note the unwritten, yet unbroken rule of NOT MENTIONING THE BAND NAME DIRECTLY], I naturally wanted to find a blue canary, and the first hit was a homerun.

But I like the turn that the thread has taken here, and so continuing, here's one from this past decade:
